Mission Statement 

The ICTMD Study Group on Indigenous Music and Dance (IMD) aims to deepen understanding and awareness of music and dance within local and indigenous cultures around the world. Our meetings and publications welcome participants from a wide variety of backgrounds, including traditional performers and educators. We are committed to ethical research collaborations that benefit local and indigenous communities and support local and indigenous performers and educators to maintain their music-and-dance knowledge and practices.

Day 1 (30 November) features the 2022 Indigenous Knowledge Institute Intersections Symposium

Call for Papers The Joint Symposium of the ICTM Study Group on Indigenous Music and Dance, and the National Recording Project for Indigenous Music and Dance in Australia (NRPIPA)

The 1st Symposium of the ICTM Study Group on Indigenous Music and Dance and the 21st NRPIPA Symposium on Indigenous Music and Dance will be held on 30 November to 3 December 2022 at the University of Melbourne. Hosted by the Indigenous Knowledge Institute, the joint symposium will primarily be delivered in an online format and coincide with the International Day of People with Disabilities on 3 December 2022.
